Geotrack Nova: Agricultural Guidance, Tracking and Real-Time Fleet Monitoring in One App

Categories

Modern agricultural guidance systems have long evolved beyond simple parallel driving. Today, farmers need not only precise field navigation, but also the ability to monitor machinery in real time, analyze movement routes, and coordinate multiple vehicles simultaneously.

That is why, in Geotrack Nova, we have implemented not only A-B navigation, circular guidance, and free-form guidance modes, but also a modern agricultural machinery location-sharing module.

Key features include:

  • Personal real-time machinery location sharing;
  • Group real-time machinery location sharing;
  • Display of movement routes (last 300 points);
  • Display of additional parameters such as travel speed and GNSS signal quality indicators.

However, along with these new capabilities, a natural question arises: how secure is location sharing?

Data security was one of the top priorities during the development of Geotrack Nova, which is why the system includes several layers of protection.

Secure Data Transmission

All coordinates are transmitted between the device and the server through a secure HTTPS connection with data encryption. This means that third parties cannot intercept or read the information while it is being transmitted over the Internet.

In addition, Geotrack Nova does not share or sell user data to advertising platforms, marketing agencies, or any other third-party organizations. All data is used exclusively to provide the location-sharing functionality.

Minimal Data Retention

Unlike many monitoring services that store users’ movement history on their servers for years, Geotrack Nova follows a data minimization approach.

To support active location sharing, the server stores only the most recent 300 route points. As new coordinates are received, older records are automatically removed from the database.

As a result, the system does not accumulate months or years of movement history. Even in the unlikely event that someone gains access to a sharing link, they will not be able to view routes from previous days or weeks because those records have already been automatically deleted.

Three Levels of Access Protection

1. PIN-Protected Sharing

Users can set their own PIN code when starting a location-sharing session. Without entering the correct PIN, the server will not grant access to the map or the machinery's location. Even if someone obtains the sharing link, they will not be able to view the data without the PIN code.

2. Instant PIN Code Changes

If access needs to be restricted or a PIN code has accidentally been disclosed, it can be changed at any time. The new PIN becomes active immediately. Any users who were using the previous PIN will automatically lose access after refreshing the page.

3. Generate a New Sharing Link

Each sharing session uses a unique randomly generated link. If you need to revoke access completely, simply stop the current sharing session and create a new one. The old link will be deactivated and will no longer function. Access will then be available only to users who receive the new link.

---

The location-sharing feature in Geotrack Nova was designed to help farmers monitor their machinery without the need for dedicated GPS trackers or complex monitoring systems. At the same time, users maintain full control over access to their data, can manage security settings independently, and can stop sharing at any moment.

We believe that modern machinery monitoring should be not only convenient, but also secure. That is why protecting your data remains one of the core principles behind the ongoing development of Geotrack Nova.
